Cllr. Chris Cullen

Co-chairman

Committees: Facilities & infrastructure (co chair), Finance.

I am a relative newcomer to Trotton only arriving in 2018 but have quickly become involved in the community, starting with the Trotton village fete and duck race and then the parish council and other activities.

I have worked for UBS, a Swiss financial institution, for over 25 years. I am an accountant focussed on risk control.

I also serve on a voluntary basis as honorary treasurer of the Guild of Mercer's Scholars, a city livery company. Previously I was company secretary of the Cobham Rugby and sports association in Cobham, Surrey,

I am married with three children all of whom are in full-time education.

I grew up in Chithurst and my mother was an active member of the parish council for many years. After a career in finance, I qualified as an arborist (RFS). I manage 70 acres of woodland and I'm married with two grown-up daughters.

Committees: Sustainability & diversity (co-chair), Events.

I was fortunate to find and buy a property in Chithurst in 2006, and I still love it here. I am a master NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and hypnotherapy practitioner with private clients, and I also work and run workshops with a company specialising in 'personal and spiritual growth'. From time to time I enjoy running a crystal bowl and gong Sound bath. Some may say I am a bit wacky; certainly I like to explore things when not playing about in my garden. My Parents lived in Liss for 25 years, and I am single with no children, but I seem to have collected my share of rescue animals and friends staying over the years and never know what is happening from day to day. I used to live and work in London and did catering for the film industry, and I still part-own my grandparents home in Yorkshire, where I am a patron of the local church. I enjoy a varied life, helping anyone when I can.

Cllr. Max Maharajh

Co-chairman and responsible finance officer

Committees: Local environment (chair), Finance (chair).

Max Maharajh moved to Trotton in 2020 after a long time searching! He cares about the community and the local environment and enjoys the various walking routes the parish offers.

Cllr. Neil Ryder Avatar

Cllr. Neil Ryder

Parish clerk

Committees: Housing & planning (chair), Facilities & infrastructure (co chair), Finance.

Neil is a council member and member of the finance and events teams. He also acts as the (voluntary, unpaid) clerk to the council, so he is its main contact and looks after its administration and website.

I came to Trotton when I retired and, as an "incomer" to the area, I wanted to make a contribution, so I do the parish clerk's job on a voluntary basis, and I'm the treasurer of the parish magazine (R&T News), a trustee of a local veterans club and, until recently, I chaired Compton, Rogate and Rake primary schools, and START (Stedham, Trotton And Rogate Together) Community Trust and was a volunteer driver of the Midhurst community bus.

Up to my retirement I did 8 years as an RAF Vulcan pilot; 5 years at the Financial Times marketing department; 8 years at a FTSE 100 company, finally as director of corporate marketing, investor relations and strategy; and 21 years as co-founder and director of an international investor relations consultancy. I chaired the UK Investor Relations Society, a director of the International Investor Relations Federation and chairman of a Surrey self-help charity.

"My grandfather came to Trotton in 1923 to farm. He built the house which I have known all my life. I came here with my parents on leave from abroad every summer, and then we, in turn, came with our own children and they now with theirs. We moved down here permanently in 2002 to live alongside my parents. Four generations of our family have got married in Trotton church. I have been a social worker all my life, with the last ten years in WSCC as training manager before retiring. I've registered as a Parish councillor before, but got sacked because I couldn't attend all the meetings through work commitments... Now I am here again and will give it another good shot!"
